The Thies 2D Ultrasonic Anemometer S82300H is a professional 2-axis ultrasonic wind sensor engineered for reliable wind measurement under extreme icing and severe winter conditions. It simultaneously measures horizontal wind speed, wind direction and acoustic virtual temperature using two orthogonal ultrasonic paths, allowing inertia-free detection of gusts and peak wind speeds without moving mechanical components. The S82300H combines IEC 61400-12-1:2017 classification, RS485/RS422 digital communication, configurable analogue outputs and up to 400 internal measurements per second with an extra-strong heating system covering the complete sensor and housing. Its high-capacity 48 V heating architecture is designed for sites where conventional sensor heating may be insufficient.

Key Features

  • IEC 61400-12-1:2017 classified
  • Two-dimensional ultrasonic measurement
  • Wind speed measurement
  • Wind direction measurement
  • Acoustic virtual-temperature measurement
  • 0–75 m/s wind-speed range
  • 0.01 m/s starting threshold
  • ±0.1 m/s accuracy up to 5 m/s
  • ±2% accuracy above 5 m/s
  • ±1° wind-direction accuracy
  • RS485 / RS422 communication
  • Configurable analogue outputs
  • Up to three analogue inputs
  • Extra-strong whole-sensor heating
  • 48 V AC/DC high-power heating system
  • IP67 environmental protection

S82300H heats not only the ultrasonic arms and converters but the complete sensor including its housing. This makes it the logical Thies 2D option for measurement sites where persistent or severe icing could otherwise obstruct the acoustic measurement paths and cause data loss.
