Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge

Professional tipping bucket rain gauge for rainfall and accumulated precipitation measurement, with heated, unheated and high-accuracy configurations for AWOS and meteorological monitoring.

Typical Applications

  • Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS)
  • Airport precipitation monitoring
  • Meteorological weather stations
  • Rainfall accumulation monitoring
  • Hydrometeorological networks
  • Environmental and rainfall data logging

The Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge provides reliable measurement of rainfall and accumulated precipitation for Automated Weather Observing Systems, meteorological stations and environmental monitoring networks. Precipitation is collected through a precision collector and directed into a tipping-bucket mechanism that produces a magnetic switch pulse for each calibrated amount of rainfall, enabling simple integration with data loggers, AWOS displays and automated precipitation monitoring systems.

Key Features

  • Accurate tipping-bucket precipitation measurement
  • Magnetic reed-switch output for data logging
  • Knife-edge collector for improved rainfall catch
  • Splash-out protection to reduce wind-related errors
  • Integrated bubble level for installation
  • Weather-resistant aluminum construction
  • Heated and unheated configurations available
  • Siphon configurations available for improved heavy-rainfall performance

Heated versions allow the water equivalent of snow and freezing rain to be measured, while RGTE siphon configurations help improve repeatability during very heavy precipitation by controlling flow into the tipping mechanism.
