The MS-95S Sunshine Duration Sensor is a compact, high-stability sunshine-duration measurement instrument designed for meteorological and climatological monitoring networks. Its unique 180° ultra-wide-angle optical lens observes the full sky hemisphere and distinguishes direct beam radiation from total sky radiation without moving components or complicated mechanical alignment. The MS-95S combines fast 200 millisecond response, a smart analogue and digital interface, internal temperature, humidity and tilt diagnostics, and rugged IP67 protection for long-term outdoor operation. EKO states that the sensor does not require routine recalibration, reducing maintenance requirements for distributed weather-monitoring networks.
Key Features
- 180° full-hemisphere ultra-wide-angle lens
- Sunshine-duration measurement
- 120 W/m² sunshine threshold
- Greater than 90% monthly sunshine-hours accuracy
- 400–1100 nm spectral range
- 200 millisecond response
- No moving parts
- No complex on-site optical adjustment
- No routine recalibration required
- Smart analogue and digital interface
- Modbus 485 RTU communication
- Analogue signal outputs
- Internal temperature diagnostics
- Tilt and internal humidity diagnostics
- IP67 environmental protection
- -40°C to +80°C operating range
- Optional MV-01 Ventilator & Heater compatibility
Unlike traditional sunshine-duration recorders that depend on mechanically tracking or shading the sun, the MS-95S uses its full-hemisphere optical field to identify direct beam radiation electronically, eliminating moving mechanisms and reducing installation and long-term maintenance requirements.
